Name: Carol S. Penning
Why have you decided to run for election/reelection in the Village of Bolingbrook Mayoral race? To finish what we started. There are still several projects that we would like to see to fruition including the water agency acquisition, westerly road projects including Weber Road Bridge and Rt. 126 interchange and extension of Kings Road.
What project most needs to be completed in Bolingbrook? And how would you work to ensure the project is actually finished and done well? Other Projects: Rodeo Drive Expansion and the sewage treatment plant #3 expansion to accommodate further growth without any more ponds in Bolingbrook. The finance monies are place to finish all of the above. Redevelop Bolingbrook Commons mall and the truck stop.
Bolingbrook is very diverse. According to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2015, 20.4% of Bolingbrook residents are African-American, 24.5% are Latinos, 11.4% are Asians, and 41.7% are white. What will you do to ensure Bolingbrook remains a diverse community and welcoming to people of all backgrounds? The diversity reflects my 30 years in office and Bolingbrook’s embracement of diversity. We support annual celebrations for all of our community including:
- The Day of the Immigrant
- The Philippine Festival
- Juneteenth for our African American Community
- Pakistani Day
- Joyfest celebrating the music of all nationalities in Bolingbrook.
What differentiates you from the other candidate running for this seat? I have 30 years experience running local government and my vision and policies have fostered and promoted the village’s growth. My opponent has no municipal experience. The policies we implemented and promoted is what has created the very diverse community. To reflect that, our village board has two African Americans, two Hispanics, and two Caucasians to mirror our population.
Outside of politics, what are some of your other interests? NO RESPONSE
Why should people vote for you in this race? I have a proven track record. People should vote for the Bolingbrook First Party because we have a proven track record of championing our diversity and promoting that through our church community, our housing and our residents.
